ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) predicts the outcome of all the college football games ahead of each weekend. With the regular season behind us, the model has updated its predictions for the upcoming slate of bowl games.

In Memphis, the Arkansas Razorbacks are taking on the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. The model sees this as a tight game with the Razorbacks being given a 56.1% chance to win while the Red Raiders have a 43.9% chance.

In the regular season, the Razorbacks finished with a 6-6 record. The team’s most impressive win was a victory over Tennessee while the team had other conference wins over Auburn and Mississippi State. The Red Raiders, meanwhile, had impressive wins over Arizona State and Iowa State.

This will be the 38th all-time meeting between these schools. The Razorbacks have won 29 of these matchups, but the Red Raiders won the most recent battle in 2015. Both of these schools were members of the now-defunct Southwest Conference until the 1990s.

This will be the 7th appearance in the game for the Razorbacks and the 1st for the Red Raiders. The Razorbacks last played in the Liberty Bowl in 2022 when they played an exciting 3OT game against Kansas. In the Liberty Bowl, Arkansas has a 3-3 record all-time.

Last year’s Liberty Bowl featured a matchup between the hometown Memphis Tigers and Iowa State. The Tigers escaped with a 36-26 victory in the game.

The 2024 edition of the Liberty Bowl will kick off on Friday at 7:00 p.m. ET.
