KJ Jefferson doesn’t need to be reminded what happened the last time Arkansas played at Auburn, and how that game unfolded.
“We know what happened when we went down there,” Jefferson said. “Everybody had that memory, so this week, it’s more personal than anything. But we’re taking it as a challenge, more personal, and not trying to leave the game in the ref’s hands. We’re just going to come out and dominate and play our brand of football.”
The controversy stemmed from Auburn facing third and 1, when Bo Nix bobbled the snap, picked it up and spiked the ball, which appeared slightly behind him, which drew an intentional grounding flag. The play was reviewed and upheld.

The SEC issued an explanation of the ruling on social media that night, and confirmed that replay showed the pass went backwards.
“However, because recovery of the football was not clearly made in the immediate continuing football action, the ruling on the field was determined to stand under Rule 12-3-2-e-1,” the statement said. It said reversal of the ruling would have required both that it was deemed a backward pass and that there was “immediate clear recovery” of the ball.
