Auburn releases first depth chart ahead of Oregon opener

Auburn prides itself as having one of the best running back traditions in college football.
This year, at least publicly, the Tigers are giving six players a chance to win the job in the backfield. If that didn’t raise an eyebrow, how about Nick Coe, at 6-foot-5 and 291 pounds, listed as a starter at outside linebacker. That leaves Big Kat Bryant and T.D. Moultry to battle it out as starter at Buck.
At another linebacker spot, the Tigers list a competition between Owen Pappoe, a 5-star freshman, and Zakoby McClain. Pappoe is one of six true freshmen to appear on the two-deep.
At tight end, Spencer Nigh, a former walk-on who was placed on scholarship entering this season, is competing with Jay Jay Wilson.
The other “or” position on offense is at wide receiver where Anthony Schwartz is competing with Seth Williams. Schwartz had surgery for a hand injury earlier this preseason, and is reportedly a game-time decision.
On kick returns, Shaun Shivers is alongside Noah Igbinoghene to start the season.
