Bruce Pearl explains why Auburn should be No. 1 in the AP Poll

Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers are up to No. 2 in the AP Poll after improving to 16-1 on the year over the weekend.

But, the Tigers got the most No. 1 votes in the poll. Still, they fell just short of topping Gonzaga for the No. 1 spot in this week’s rankings.

Pearl believes the Tigers should have the top spot. He explained why he thinks so (via OANow.com):

“I think, based at this time, we should be No. 1 based on our resume,” Pearl said. “But that doesn’t mean we’re the best team in the country, and I’m not saying that. I think we’re one of the top 20 teams in the country. I think we’re one of the top five or six teams in our league.”

If Auburn keeps winning this week, there’s a chance the Tigers could jump Gonzaga. The Tigers face Georgia midweek and then take on Kentucky in a huge game on Saturday.
