Former Auburn running back Devan Barrett announces transfer destination

After making the decision to opt-out last season at Auburn, Devan Barrett later made the decision to transfer out of the program following the first spring of the Bryan Harsin era.
Now we know where Barrett is headed.
On Friday, the former Auburn running back/defensive back announced he will be transferring to Troy. It will be a reunion of sorts for Barrett as Troy’s current head coach is Chip Lindsey, Auburn’s former offensive coordinator under Gus Malzahn.
While Barrett was never much of a contributor during his time on The Plains, the former four-star recruit is one of only three scholarship running backs on Auburn’s roster at the moment.
Thankfully for the Tigers, they won’t be going into the season with just two scholarship running backs as Auburn signed three-star Mississippi running back Jarquez Hunter in the 2021 recruiting cycle and is adding former Central Michigan runner Jordon Ingram via transfer heading into fall camp.
