The recent addition of QB transfer Jarrett Stidham has those in Auburn absolutely giddy — including head coach Gus Malzahn.
Stidham comes to Auburn from Baylor — where he was previously considered one of the best high school prospects in the country.
Auburn's Gus Malzahn said QB signee Jarrett Stidham will arrive 19th or 20th. "He wants to start practice early." Not bowl eligible, though

It’s expected that Stidham will compete for — and likely win — the starting spot next season. Quarterback play has been a bit of an issue for this program dating back to the Cam Newton’s time at Auburn. Inconsistency at the position has truly held this program back from reaching greater heights.
Gus Malzahn: Jarrett Stidham a "dual-threat guy" and throws a very good deep ball

Stidham has the best big-play potential of any quarterback currently on the roster. He likely can give the offense an added dimension with his ability to throw downfield.
Malzahn: Jarrett Stidham will be in Auburn Dec. 19 or 20. "We felt like he was the top quarterback in the country when he came out."

In essence, it would be a shock to see him not start in 2017.
