Before ever making his mark on the Auburn program, quarterback Woody Barrett is set to leave the program via transfer.
This news was first reported by Brandon Marcello of Auburn Undercover/247Sports. A former four-star recruit in the 2016 recruiting cycle, Barrett signed with the Tigers over offers from Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Oklahoma among many others. He was also a 2016 Under Armour All-American coming out of high school.
Soon after the news hit, Barrett tweeted out the news himself, confirming his intentions to leave Auburn:

The move was not totally unexpected following Auburn’s offseason addition of transfer quarterback Jarrett Stidham from Baylor and the spring emergence of true freshman quarterback Malik Willis. With junior Sean White still on the roster and ahead of Barrett on the quarterback depth chart, Willis making a case for playing time and Stidham looking like the team’s best option to start in the fall, Barrett’s decision to leave the program certainly makes sense.
Barrett failed to make an appearance in any game for the Tigers after redshirting his one and only season on campus. He was a Class 8A Mr. Football finalist out of Florida in 2016 recruiting cycle.
