A former Arkansas staffer is joining Gus Malzahn in Orlando.
FootballScoop reported Friday that Sean “SJ” Tuohy is leaving Hugh Freeze’s Liberty program to be Malzahn’s director of football operations at UCF. Tuohy confirmed the news on his Twitter account.
“Was hoping to wait on news, but I’m very lucky to have worked with our staff and players at Liberty football. There are not many leaders like Coach Hugh Freeze. He is a winner in every aspect. I’ll cherish support staff friendships forever. Excited to get to ORL with UCF football!” Tuohy tweeted Friday night.
Tuohy was linked to Chad Morris from 2017-19. After playing college basketball at Loyola, Tuohy transferred to Morris’ SMU program in 2017, both playing special teams and serving as a Special Teams Assistant. Tuohy followed Morris to Arkansas and served as Assistant Director of Football Operations for the 2018 and ’19 seasons. After Morris’ dismissal, he joined Freeze’s staff as assistant AD for football operations at Liberty.
Tuohy is best known to many for the 2009 movie “The Blind Side,” about his older brother, former Ole Miss All-American Michael Oher.
