Former Clemson WR Diondre Overton has tragically passed away at the age of 26.

The former Clemson standout was a member of the national championship teams for Clemson in both 2016 and 2018. The receiver caught 52 passes for 777 yards in his 4-year career at Clemson and played more than 1,000 career snaps.

He went on to play professionally in the USFL, recording 42 catches for 533 yards and 5 touchdowns for the Philadelphia Stars over the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

A native of Greensboro, N.C., Overton signed with the Tigers out of Walter Hines Page High School. He earned his degree from Clemson in sports communication in the summer of 2019.

There have been reports from Clemson news sources that Overton’s death was the result of a shooting that took place Friday night.

Former teammate and fellow WR Amari Rodgers took to social media to react to the news as well, saying “Long Live Dre.”

Rest in peace to Diondre Overton.
