One of Florida’s few remaining assistants from the Urban Meyer era, Durkin assumed the role of linebackers and special teams coach for the Gators in 2010 after three years in a similar position at Stanford. Under Durkin’s direction, Florida’s linebacker corps has been one of the SEC’s most talented personnel groups every season. In 2013, head coach Will Muschamp promoted the Bowling Green pass-rush specialist to defensive coordinator.

After spending four years as a graduate assistant at his alma-mater and Notre Dame, Durkin’s first full-time assistant coach position came at Bowling Green in 2005 where he led defensive ends. Durkin’s defenses are known to be physical and constantly attacking.
