Major Applewhite, a former Texas quarterback, spent one season as the offensive coordinator at the University of Alabama.
Applewhite was the first offensive coordinator under Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa, joining the Tide after spending one season as the Rice offensive coordinator in 2006. He also coached under Mack Brown at Texas from 2008-13.
All of Alabama’s offensive averages improved under Applewhite, but the team also lost the last four games of the season, including a 21-14 upset against Louisiana-Monroe.
An itinerant journalist, Christopher has moved between states 11 times in seven years. Formally an injury-prone Division I 800-meter specialist, he now wanders the Rockies in search of high peaks.
