Todd Golden Bio

Before becoming a coach, Todd Golden was a standout point guard who played four full seasons at Saint Mary’s. As a senior in 2007-08, Golden finished No. 2 in the country with a 3.68-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio. He also made 45.9% of his 3-pointers that season.

He then played 2 seasons professionally overseas before returning to the United States to begin a business career. That didn’t last long.

In 2012-13, Golden began his coaching career, first as the director of basketball operations at Columbia, a Division I program in the Ivy League.

He quickly started climbing the coaching ladder.

Golden, who played on a USA team coached by Bruce Pearl, joined Pearl’s staff at Auburn in 2014-15.

Five years later, at the age of 33, Golden was named head coach at San Francisco.

He spent 3 years with the Dons, leading them to the NCAA Tournament before being named Florida’s head basketball coach at the age of 36 in 2022.

In 2024-25, Golden led the Gators to their first SEC Tournament title since 2014 and their first Final Four appearance since 2014.

The Gators are trying to win the NCAA Tournament for the first time since winning back-to-back national championships in 2006-2007.
