Tennessee, as expected, remains No. 1 in the Baseball America Top 25 after the Vols swept Mississippi State to complete the regular season.
The Vols finished conference play an incredible 25-5 and won all but one SEC series. Tennessee has now been ranked No. 1 for 8 weeks this season. There are 5 SEC teams in the poll after LSU came in at No. 21, and Vanderbilt dropped out. Texas A&M is ranked No. 3 this week, Arkansas is at No. 11, Auburn is at No. 20 and LSU at No. 21.
The Vols claimed their ninth series sweep of the season, this time of Mississippi State as they finished off a sweep on Saturday with a 10-5 decision at Dudy Noble Field.
Tennessee totaled 49 wins in the 2022 regular season. The previous best record going into postseason play in program history was a 45-11 mark set in 1994. The Volunteers also went 25-5 in Southeastern Conference play. UT is only the third team in league history to compile 25 conference wins.
The Aggies launched 4 home runs, including a grand slam by Brett Minnich on Saturday to beat Ole Miss, 12-5 at Swayze Field to claim the outright SEC Western Division title.
