Tulane hasn’t been an SEC program since the 1960s, but the Green Wave just pulled off quite the run to secure an automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Tournament!

The Green Wave, which has an 19-40 record this season, pulled off the improbable upset of top-seeded East Carolina (45-17) on Sunday, 8-6. They’ll be in the Field of 64 for the first time since 2016 with Sunday’s shocking win.

This is Tulane baseball’s first AAC Title in school history. They downed Houston twice and Memphis once to advance to Sunday’s championship game against the Pirates.

The Green Wave hopped to a strong 3-0 start but quickly lost momentum, falling to a 5-3 deficit in the early going. Tulane then went on a run of its own, adding 4 straight runs to take a 7-5 lead. They would never look back on the way to a 8-6 win following a late insurance run.

This was not a bid steal, it was a full-on bid heist.
