How Many Teams Reach The College World Series?

Each year, 8 teams advance to the CWS in Omaha, Nebraska. Those teams win their regional and Super Regional.

How Do Teams Reach The College World Series?

The college baseball NCAA Tournament begins with 64 teams, divided equally into 16 regionals. Each 4-team regional plays a double-elimination tournament. The 16 regional winners then advance to the Super Regionals, where they’ll play another predetermined regional winner in a best-of-3 series. Those 8 Super Regional winners advance to the College World Series, held each summer in Omaha, Nebraska.

The College World Series field is separated into 2 brackets. Each 4-team bracket plays a double-elimination tournament to determine its winner. The winner of each bracket then advances to the best-of-3 College World Series Finals.

What Is The Difference Between The NCAA Tournament And The College World Series?

The NCAA Tournament refers to the entire 64-team tournament.

The College World Series specifically refers to the final 8 teams that advance to Omaha in hopes of winning the national championship.
