College basketball AP Top 25, Week 9: Tennessee jumps into top 5, new SEC team cracks poll

We take a pause on this monumental day of college football for a quick look at the AP Top 25 poll, which was updated and released Monday for the first time in 2024.
Four SEC teams made the cut this time around: Tennessee, Kentucky, Ole Miss and Auburn, which enters the top 25 for the first time this season. In addition, 4 teams out of the SEC received votes to be in the top 25: Texas A&M, South Carolina, Mississippi State and Alabama.
The Vols jumped into the top 5 following an off week due to a rough loss by Arizona to Stanford. It’s the first time an SEC team has been in the top 5 all season.
Here’s a look at the full top 25. By the time the Week 10 poll rolls around, SEC play will have started.
