Grant Nelson is lauded by many as one of the top transfer options in the portal.

The former North Dakota State center can defend well, is a rebounding machine at 6-11 and has a proven ability to score from anywhere on the court, especially in the paint.

And on Monday, Nelson made his commitment official after weeks of anticipation. According to a report from Joe Tipton, he is expected to play his senior year of college basketball at Alabama under head coach Nate Oats.

This is not a surprising move for Nelson, who was thought to be down to the Tide or Arkansas. Alabama gives Nelson the best path towards starting immediately, especially with the recent frontcourt loss of Charles Bediako to the NBA Draft.

Nelson averaged over 17 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game last season for the Bison and was a first-team all-Summit league member. He’s not an elite 3-point shooter but has a 31% hit rate across his 3-year career, more than enough to spread the floor effectively under Oats.

Nelson joins former CAA Player of the Year Aaron Estrada and former CSU Fullerton standout Latrell Wrightsell Jr. as incoming transfers for the Tide.

Check out a bit of what Nelson has to offer below:
