ESPN’s College GameDay was in Boone, N.C., on Saturday for the first time, on the heels of Appalachian State’s upset win at Texas A&M on Sept. 17.
Of course, there were no shortage of signs by Mountaineers fans trolling the Aggies, particularly around the fact that App State was paid $1.5 million to travel to Kyle Field. Few expected the Sun Belt program to end up coming out on top, but that’s exactly what happened.
One sign in particular, which you can see below, led an App State student to receive free tuition for a year:

However, while the university was originally set to award one student with free tuition, 2 other finalists were surprised to find out that they had won, as well:
What a cool moment on @CollegeGameDay: thanks to @AppChancellor, not one but three @appstate students just received free tuition for a year for their Best GameDay signs submissions. (I bet the parents of these students are pretty excited too!) pic.twitter.com/qndFb6HdRc
