Baseball town? Nobody showed up to the Miami-Boston College game

There’s no denying football has overtaken baseball as America’s favorite sport, but that isn’t necessarily the case year around in every city.
In Boston, with the Red Sox in the World Series, baseball is still king. And if you want to argue otherwise, just take a look at the crowd for the Boston College-Miami game in Chestnut Hill on Friday night.
I know a lot of folks might still be tailgating, but, uh, I think quite a few others might be staying in to watch their Red Sox up here in Boston. Alumni Stadium 10 minutes before kick… pic.twitter.com/lEjbUbJ3Hi

More fans likely came into the stands following the kickoff, but it appears as though a lot of people are home watching the Red Sox play the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the 2018 World Series. This sparse of a crowd would be a little more acceptable if a lot of sports fans chose to attend Fenway Park instead of Alumni Stadium, but Game 3 is at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles.
It’s impressive that the Red Sox have that much staying power in a world where “pace of play” is generally the biggest discussion topic for baseball in October. Unfortunately for Boston College, the Red Sox popularity means a worse crowd Friday night than even the Hurricanes usually draw in Miami.
