Big 12 team now has longest active win streak in FBS after Michigan loss
Step aside Michigan, there’s a new team with the country’s longest active winning streak: Arizona.
The Wolverines’ 31-12 loss to Texas on Saturday ended their nation-leading 16-game winning streak, which dated back to the 2023 Fiesta Bowl defeat to TCU.
Now, the Wildcats are in sole possession of the active wins mark, having won nine in a row dating back to the team’s 43-41 overtime loss to Caleb Williams and USC on October 7 of last year. Over the nine-game winning streak, Arizona has only won two games by less than 12 points.
Brent Brennan’s team, which had preseason expectations to be a dark horse contender in the Big 12 thanks to the return of Noah Fifita and Tetairoa McMillan, begins conference play this Friday against Kansas State. The road trip to play the other Wildcats will be the team’s first true test of the season, and a visit to Salt Lake City following a bye week will be no easy task either.
Arizona extended its winning streak to 9 with a 22-10 win over Northern Arizona on Saturday. The Wildcats did face a 10-3 deficit in the second quarter before pitching a second-half shutout that also featured a safety.
The longest active win streak in FBS….
Arizona with 9 straight.
