CFB kicker has perfect joke on Twitter after missing extra point to preserve 69-0 win

Mercer absolutely routed Point on Friday night, destroying its opponent to the tune of a 69-0 final score.
Yes, as you might expect, the 69-0 final score drew some reaction on Twitter. But, the way Mercer finished with 69 points was the story.
Mercer kicker Caleb Dowden missed the extra point with the chance to go up 70-0, leading many to praise him for potentially doing it on purpose.
And, as you can see below, Dowden played that up after the game, saying he “had to take one for the team”:

Obviously, with 7:22 remaining in the game, it’s unlikely Dowden was actually trying to miss on purpose. But, hey, it makes for a nice story, doesn’t it?
