Don’t get too attached to the Week 4 rankings, a lot of shuffling is about to happen.

The top half of the Associated Press Top 25 should mostly stay the same as Nos. 1-12 all took care of business. One ranking, to watch, however will be the No. 5 spot. Current No. 5 Oklahoma needed overtime to beat Army 28-21. Will the voters punish the Sooners for barely winning? LSU certainly has a case for being in the top five with wins over No. 7 Auburn and No. 8 Miami.

Speaking of the Tigers, the final score (38-21) looks a little better than the actual game with Louisiana Tech. The Bayou Bengals were up only three (24-21) in the fourth quarter of that game. Luckily for them, it’s doubtful too many Associated Press voters were watching that game.

But the bottom half of the poll will experience some major shuffling. No. 13 Virginia Tech, No. 14 Mississippi State, No. 15 Oklahoma State, No. 17 TCU, No. 20 Oregon and No. 22 Texas A&M all lost. While some will argue all of those teams deserve to fall out of the poll, the high number of losses will likely allow at least a couple to stay in.

Here’s how the AP Top 25 fared in Week 4:

  1. Alabama def. No. 22 Texas A&M 45-23
  2. Georgia def. Missouri 43-29
