Colt McCoy is making his broadcasting debut on Saturday night for NBC’s broadcast of Colorado-Nebraska.

While the game is getting a lot of talk, so is the performance of McCoy in the booth.

McCoy recently retired from the NFL to start his new career, but things aren’t off to a great start for the Longhorn legend. His debut as a broadcaster was universally panned by both media and fans during the game on Saturday night:

McCoy was the quarterback at Texas from 2006-2009, where he put together one of the best careers for any college quarterback. He threw for 13,253 yards, 112 touchdowns and 45 interceptions. He also rushed for another 1,571 yards and 20 more touchdowns.

After finishing his college career, he was drafted with the 85th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. While he never became a franchise quarterback, McCoy was on an NFL roster for 14 seasons, playing with the Browns, 49ers, Redskins, Giants and Cardinals.

McCoy found himself on those rosters because he was a high IQ player who knew the game, and that was expected to be something that made him ready to be an announcer. It is only his first game, so he could get better with time. But on Saturday night, the fans didn’t love him in the booth.
