When Alabama lost at Texas A&M a couple of weeks ago, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers became the team with the longest active winning streak in the FBS.

But, now, that streak is over, as the Chanticleers went to Boone, North Carolina, on Wednesday night and fell to Appalachian State in dramatic fashion.

As you can see below, with the game tied 27-27 in the closing seconds, Appalachian State kicker Chandler Staton lined up a 24-yard field goal and knocked it through. Then, the party was on in Boone:

As SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic noted, the Chanticleers had won 18 straight regular-season games, but now that streak is over:

Both teams are now 2-1 in the Sun Belt’s East Division. We’ll see who ultimately wins the division, but this was a huge victory for the Mountaineers.
