One of the biggest ACC football games in Week 5 is an old-school rivalry as the Miami Hurricanes host the Virginia Tech Hokies.

And, naturally, ESPN’s Football Power Index is weighing in with what it thinks will happen. The FPI is giving the Hurricanes a 90% chance to win this game. That means ESPN doesn’t think the Hokies have much of a chance to win at only 10% probability.

The former Big East and now ACC rivals will collide in a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff from Hard Rock Stadium with the game being aired on ESPN.

The Hurricanes have been one of the most impressive teams during the 2024 season, having won their first 4 games by an average of 42 points.

Last week, Miami went and dominated South Florida by a score of 50-15. Quarterback Cam Ward threw for 404 yards and 3 touchdowns, and is arguably the early favorite to win the Heisman trophy. While things are going great for Miami, things aren’t as good for the Hokies.

Virginia Tech lost 26-23 to Rutgers at home. The Hokies were down 2 touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but battled back to tie the game up before losing on a field goal.

The Hokies were dominated when it came to time of possession, as Rutgers had the ball for 39:23.

The last time these 2 teams played was in 2022, with the Hurricanes winning by a score of 20-14.
