For much of the 2021 college football season, many wondered if Florida State might be in the market for a new football coach this offseason.

It appears, however, if Mike Norvell will keep his job despite a 5-7 mark this year and 8-13 record in 2 seasons with the Seminoles.

But things will be changing in Tallahassee, as news broke Wednesday that FSU athletic director David Coburn would be leaving his position.

Coburn took over in his current role in May of 2019 and is planning to retire, but he will stay on board until a successor is named.

How this change impacts the Florida State football program in the short term remains to be seen, but Norvell’s future likely will be in doubt regardless of who’s in charge if he can’t start to turn things around next season.
