Gary Danielson has been around the block during his time calling games for CBS, but many fans are a bit thrown by his call to the Week 4 game.

Traditionally, Danielson and his counterpart Brad Nessler were used to call SEC games throughout “the SEC on CBS,” but things have changed with the Big Ten entering a new media rights deal with CBS. Even the Big Ten feels different this season with USC 1 of 4 former Pac-12 teams joining the fold.

That all adds up to what has been a particularly odd sensation for fans in Week 4. USC, playing its first-ever B1G game as a conference member, is playing at Michigan, and Danielson is on the call.

A regular-season game involving the Trojans in the Big House would have previously been unheard of (or at least ultra-rare), but it will become commonplace in the new era of college football. It’s likely Danielson will be on the mic for a handful of those games, but it is still a scene that will take some getting used to.

While Danielson has at times been heavily criticized by fans on social media, the vibe this weekend is more so one of an odd feeling for those trying to watch the game. Take a look:
