Hurricane Helene is heating up and bearing down on the southeastern United States with the potential for a major storm to make landfall.

The latest tracking of the storm’s path projects a landfall along Florida’s panhandle sometime during the day on Thursday. That means the region could be in for severe conditions throughout Thursday and Friday, plus the added strain placed on the region in the aftermath.

With the uncertain weekend ahead, Florida A&M (located in Tallahassee) has already rescheduled this weekend’s game vs. Alabama A&M to accommodate the arrival of Hurricane Helene. That game has been moved to Friday, Nov. 29 late in the season.

“Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff,” Smith said. “Given the uncertainty surrounding Hurricane Helene, we feel it is in everyone’s best interest to reschedule the game.”

While Florida State is also located in Tallahassee, the Seminoles are currently scheduled to play on the road at SMU this Saturday night. We will see if the storm forces travel or schedule changes for FSU, but that game currently appears safe to go off without a hitch.

Depending on where and when exactly the storm makes landfall, it could also impact the marquee matchup of Alabama vs. Georgia on Saturday. While the storm is likely to be out of the area, it could leave the top 5 teams with rain-soaked conditions to manage.
