Iowa State’s starting QB in 2022, Hunter Dekkers, is being accused of placing 26 wagers on Iowa State sporting events, a report from the Des Moines Register said Tuesday. A criminal complaint against Dekker was filed by the Story County Attorney’s Office.

The report states that, included in the 26 wagers placed on ISU sporting events, Dekker bet on a game in 2021 against Oklahoma State when he was the backup at Iowa State. Outside of ISU, Dekkers placed well over 350 wagers which totaled $2,799.

If these accusations are proven correct, Dekkers would be facing a permanent loss of eligibility under NCAA Guidelines.

Dekkers started all 12 games for the Cyclones last season, leading a squad that finished the season 4-8. Dekkers threw for over 3,000 yards with 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
