Kirk Herbstreit blasts ‘vocal minority’ over Playoff comments: ‘What’s the next conspiracy theory?’

Kirk Herbstreit had a message for college football fans who felt that the current College Football Playoff system shuts non-Power 5 schools out and unfairly benefits larger programs.
Of course, the SEC saw 2 teams, Alabama and Georgia, make the field, with Georgia in for a 2nd time and Alabama in for the 7th time. Michigan, a 1st-time Playoff entrant, marks the Big Ten’s 6th appearance to make the Playoff. But Cincinnati’s milestone inclusion sees them “crash the party” in the 8th year of the CFP.
With that, Herbstreit unloaded on fans on Twitter on Tuesday as he called out fans that had been unsatisfied with the current setup:
After SEVEN years of bitching and complaining from a vocal minority that the CFP system is rigged and the “small guy” will NEVER GET A CHANCE-haven’t heard much from ya last couple days.
Everything okay? What’s the next conspiracy theory??
Can’t wait!

Regardless of how fans feel about the College Football Playoff, it appears that expansion is imminent at some point, with the number of teams and the qualifying process still up in the air. For now, though, Group of 5 fans will hope that the Bearcats’ selection will pave the way for other schools outside of the Power 5 conferences to have a shot at winning a championship.
