Life as a college football photographer can be perilous. For the individuals that roam the sidelines, camera in hand, getting the right shot is paramount.

As a result, photographers can sometimes find themselves exposed in vulnerable positions as they focus on the action on the field. That happened to one unfortunate photographer in Madison, Wisconsin as an errant pass from Rutgers QB Gavin Wimsatt wound up drilling the individual below the belt.

The photographer in question has since identified himself as Ethan Bacon. Per Bacon’s X (formerly Twitter) bio, he is a photographer for the Big Ten Network and Wisconsin on BTN.

Bacon also provided his point of view images from the incident in question. The shot clearly captures Wimsatt dropping back and tossing a pass in Bacon’s direction. The ball slowly drops out of frame as it travels in the air before the camera collapses for… obvious reasons.
