There is plenty of debate about who is the greatest running back in SEC history.
There is no such drama about who is the greatest running back in Arkansas Razorbacks history.
It’s Darren McFadden, as easily said as it is for Hogs fans to believe Run-DMC was robbed of the 2007 Heisman Trophy.
McFadden ranks No. 1 and No. 2 on Arkansas’ single-season rushing list, but he’s not the only Hog who has ever surpassed 1,000 yards in a season.
Arkansas’ 1,000-Yard Rushers
Alex Collins is the only Hog who topped 1,000 yards three times in his career. Here is the complete list of Hogs who topped the 1,000-yard mark entering the 2025 season (* denotes players who were not in the SEC at the time).
Progression of Arkansas’ Single-Season Rushing Yards Record
In 1972, Dickey Morton became the first Arkansas player to rush for 1,000 yards in a season, thus setting a single-season program record. Here’s every record-holder since (bold indicates the year the record was set):
Years at No. 1 | Player | Rushing yards |
---|---|---|
2007-present | Darren McFadden | 1,830 |
2006-2007 | Darren McFadden | 1,647 |
1995-2006 | Madre Hill | 1,387 |
1973-1995 | Dickey Morton | 1,298 |
1972-1973 | Dickey Morton | 1,188 |
