Texas A&M first fielded a football team all the way back in 1894. Over the years, the Aggies have won 3 national championships, all coming in the early part of the program’s history. Texas A&M claims national titles in 1919, 1927 and 1939.

The Aggies have won 18 conference titles in their history, with 17 coming in the Southwest Conference and 1 in the Big 12.

They’ve produced 2 Heisman winners — John David Crow in 1957 and the electric Johnny Manziel in 2012.

Entering the 2024 season in the SEC, the Aggies are turning to Mike Elko as their new head coach. He replaces Jimbo Fisher, who was fired after several years of results that were deemed unacceptable by Texas A&M administration and boosters.

We’ll see if Elko has the magic touch to guide the Aggies to an appearance in the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff.
