With the 2022 college football season over, it’s black Sunday for many coaches. Tulsa can reportedly be added to the list of openings on the coaching carousel.

Matt Zenitz of On3 reports that Philip Montgomery is out after 8 seasons with the Golden Hurricane.

Montgomery took the Tulsa job in December 2014, departing his post as Baylor’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Tulsa posted a 43-53 in 8 seasons under Montgomery.

The best season of Montgomery’s tenure came in 2016 when Tulsa went 10-3 with a win in the Miami Beach bowl. In the shortened 2020 college football season, Tulsa went 6-3, reaching its first-ever AAC Championship Game and accepting a bid to play in the Armed Forces Bowl.

Last year, Tulsa went 7-6 and won the Myrtle Beach Bowl. This season, the Golden Hurricane finished 5-7 overall and 3-5 in conference play. Tulsa defeated Houston 37-30 on Saturday.
