Travis Hunter, Colorado’s 2-way star who plays both cornerback and wide receiver, was taken to the hospital during the second half of the Buffaloes’ thrilling double-overtime victory over Colorado State on Saturday night.
He was injured following an illegal hit that was flagged for unnecessary roughness. Now, the Buffaloes will seemingly be without their superstar for a while.
After the game, coach Deion Sanders said Hunter will probably be out a few weeks with the injury (via ESPN):
Coach Deion Sanders had no update after the game other than to say, the “first thing I heard is he’s going to be out a few weeks.” Hunter was taken to a hospital during the third quarter for an evaluation.
Colorado DB Shilo Sanders put it best when describing what the loss of Hunter will mean to the Buffaloes:
“The bad thing about losing Travis,” said defensive back Shilo Sanders, “it’s like you’re losing two players at once.”
Hunter had recorded 2 catches for 21 yards and 2 tackles before leaving with the injury. When he will return remains to be seen, but this is a tough loss for Colorado with Pac-12 play kicking off next weekend.
