Sleeper Review
Sleeper Fantasy has one of the best apps in the daily fantasy sports (DFS) space today. This Sleeper review will explain why that’s the case. We’ll rate the Sleeper DFS app on a variety of topics and show you why fans of all sports are flocking to Sleeper over some of its competitors.
Whether it’s a sleek, easy-to-use picks section or a great experience for season-long fantasy football and basketball leagues, Sleeper has fans of all types covered.
The Basics – Sleeper Fantasy
Sleeper Fantasy is one of the most-used DFS apps in the world, and on this page we’ll explain exactly why. To start out, here’s a look at the app basics:
- The Sleeper Fantasy App is versatile and available for download on iOS, Android, desktop and tablet. The app has a 4.7-star rating, among the best compared to competitors.
- The Sleeper layout runs on making more/less picks for a certain player against a certain statistical category. Similar to a sportsbook over/under prop, these picks set “lines” such as “Lebron James more/less 25.5 points.”
- Users cannot place straight bets. Instead, players must choose anywhere from 2-8 players for an entry to be legitimate.
- Sleeper often runs weekly picks for top players across the sports world. These “free” picks consist of a no-brainer line for players such as Patrick Mahomes, Connor McDavid, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, you get the picture. Add these “free” picks to an entry to improve your odds.
- Playout multipliers are important to keep note of. Some entries pay more out than others.

What is Sleeper Fantasy?
Sleeper Fantasy was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in San Mateo, California. It counts NBA stars like Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson among its investors.
The Sleeper app is designed for daily fantasy sports fans, as well as players of season-long fantasy football and basketball. It has a vibrant social scene, allowing fans of all sports to come together.
Its legal name is Blitz Studios, Inc., and it has gone through multiple seed funding rounds, as well as Series A, B and C funding rounds. Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz is also among the investors in Sleeper (per CrunchBase).
I started using Sleeper Fantasy a few years ago when a friend mentioned that we should switch our season-long fantasy football league to the Sleeper app. After downloading the Sleeper Fantasy app, I was sold immediately. (It also helped that I won my fantasy league that season.)
Sleeper App Legal States
Let’s dive right into this, shall we? It’s important to know where you can and can’t play Sleeper Fantasy contests. Where is Sleeper Fantasy legal? I’ll break it down below:

Sleeper Fantasy Pros and Cons
As with anything in life, there are pros and cons, ups and downs with the Sleeper Fantasy app. Fortunately for DFS players, there are way more pros than cons. Here’s my breakdown of the app:
✅ Pros
- Sleeper has one of the widest ranges of sports to make picks on. Whether you’re an NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, EPL, college basketball, college football or WNBA fan, Sleeper has you covered.
- Live-tracking is available for all sports and adds to the experience of watching your picks succeed or fail in real-time.
- Sleeper’s branding and design is sleek and, frankly, really cool.
- Sleeper is always adding new features and sports. In 2024, the app added English Premier League picks to its offerings and also debuted alternate picks, allowing you to customize your contests.
- Speaking of customizing your contests, Sleeper uses a fun dynamic multiplier system, allowing you to enter contests with whatever multiplier you feel comfortable with.
- The Sleeper app also contains fantasy football offerings, so you can access your season-long leagues alongside your weekly DFS picks.
- Sleeper has the best social capabilities in the DFS space and it isn’t even close. (More on this later.)
- Sleeper has some of the most frequent discounts and specials in the field, with weekly features like Wildcard Wednesday and Sleeper Sundae.
❌ Cons
- No best-ball drafts.
- It would be nice to see more options for withdrawals, such as PayPal and Apple Pay.
Sleeper vs. Other Top DFS App Options
Finding the right DFS app for you is crucial to maximizing the enjoyment you get out of daily fantasy sports. Here’s a detailed look at how Sleeper compares to other top DFS apps on the market today:
Sleeper Fantasy Contests and Games
Sleeper is all about picks. Find a sport, pick a game, choose a player stat and click the higher or lower option. It’s that easy. You can craft DFS contests with whatever multiplier you feel comfortable with, up to 100x your entry fee.
Sleeper has picks offerings for NFL, NBA, NHL, college football, college basketball, MLB, WNBA and CS2 (eSports). So no matter what sport you’re a fan of, Sleeper has options for you.
I spend most of my time with NFL, NBA, CFB, CBB and MLB picks, as those are the leagues I’m most familiar with. There’s nothing better than having a couple of college football and a couple of NFL contests for a busy weekend of football.
You can also put your season-long fantasy football league on Sleeper. It has quickly become one of the leaders in the season-long fantasy space, thanks to its excellent user interface and top-notch social capabilities.
Chat with your friends and foes in real time as you put together your lineup for the week or craft a Sleeper Picks contest. Sleeper’s social function is second to none in the DFS space.
My Favorite Thing About Sleeper
There’s a lot to love about Sleeper Fantasy, but for me, the No. 1 thing is the all-in-one aspect of the app. Instead of closing out of multiple apps to find expert picks, set your fantasy football lineup and play DFS contests, you can do all of those things and more in the Sleeper Fantasy app.
You can even chat with your friends over the app. No need for message board posts when you can just have a league group chat within the Sleeper universe.
There are even several bonus features on the app, including a trade analyzer, a section for fantasy football and DFS podcasts, and more:

And as you can see at the bottom of the screen, you can even track scores for sporting events as they’re happening. There truly is no reason to leave the app when you’re in a sports groove, and that makes Sleeper the place to be for DFS and fantasy sports lovers all season long.
No other app on the market has all of these features combined. Sure, some apps come close, but none are in Sleeper’s league in terms of app features.
Join an Impressive Online Community
Sleeper, as perhaps you can tell by the previous entries on this page, is big on social interaction built into the app, moreso than any other Daily Fantasy App on the market. Here are a few of the impressive social aspects available on Sleeper:
- Squads: Create a Squad in the Sleeper App to compete and keep track of your friends’ picks on Sleeper. Just open the app, navigate to the “picks” menu and click on “Squads” in the top right corner. From there you can add your friends by username.
- Social Feed: Whether you’re a fan of the NBA, NFL, MLB or just whatever sport happens to be in season, you can follow along with the latest updates and news under the “Feed” tab at the bottom of the app. Of course, you can customize your feed and join different channels such as the picks chat, FF News, FF Advice and so many more. You can even join channels devoted to your favorite teams for the 4 Major American Sports Leagues: The NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL.
- Chat: You can chat with your friends, other players and other members of your league with the direct message feature on Sleeper. Consider a league group chat, as it’s my favorite way to communicate within Sleeper Fantasy.
How Long Does It Take For Sleeper to Pay Out?
In my experience (and fortunately I’ve had plenty of experience making withdrawals from Sleeper), the Sleeper Fantasy withdrawal system is safe and simple. And, most importantly, it is fast. When I’ve withdrawn funds, they’ve arrived in my account almost instantaneously.
Seriously, I don’t think I’ve even had to wait an hour before I had my funds in my debit card account.
One thing, as mentioned above in the pros and cons section, is that I’d like to see PayPal added as a withdrawal method. But for now, receiving my winnings in the same account I use to fund my Sleeper bankroll is fine.
