Daily fantasy sports (DFS) have become increasingly popular among major sports fans the past couple of years. DFS is a safe, legal way you can win real money online as part of fun draft, pick’em, best-ball contests and much more!
Like many other southern states, sports betting is not currently legal in Alabama. DFS through Underdog Fantasy allows you to put real money on the line in fantasy contests involving your favorite players and teams in a lot of unique and funs ways. How? There are plenty of ways to get in on the action at Underdog Fantasy, whether it’s individual pick’em contests favoring Alabama football or professional leagues such as the MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL and so much more. PGA golf is also a big feature on Underdog, so you can put money on (or against) Alabama alum Justin Thomas in upcoming majors.
On this page, we’ll take a look at Underdog Fantasy Alabama. We’ll even provide you an Underdog Fantasy promo code to get started! It’s important to note with this exclusive promo code that you’ll receive $100 of extra value as a welcome bonus.

Why You Should Consider Playing Underdog Fantasy Contests
Maybe you like Alabama football. Perhaps you’re starting to follow that No. 1 hoops team Nate Oats has constructed over in college basketball. Braves fan? Tennessee Titans? Whoever you root for, Underdog Fantasy has you covered.
If you’ve lived in Alabama (or the south in general), you know the struggle of looking in on the sports betting world from the outside. Perhaps you have friends that have been able to get in on the action. But why should fans in other states be able to have all the fun? Underdog Fantasy Alabama helps make every back-shoulder throw, fadeaway shot, birdie putt and diving save that much more intense for passionate fans. And just in case it hasn’t been made clear quite yet: you can win real money every time you open the app!
Alabama is not exactly a hotbed for professional sports, but that doesn’t mean the state is a void for sports fans. Alabama football has been the most dominant power in college football since Nick Saban came to town. Auburn football has won a championship of its own in the past decade, and college basketball is at an all-time high in the Yellowhammer State. Point is, whether you’re a college sports person or a professional sports person rooting for the Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Atlanta Braves, Tennessee Titans, Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans Pelicans or Tampa Bay Lightning, Underdog Fantasy Alabama has you covered.
Heck, it doesn’t even have to be your favorite team. Maybe that team is frustrating you and you refuse to double down. Why not spite pick against your rivals? With pick’em contests, you can pick against your team’s biggest rival. Iron Bowl fans, be civil.
Everything is more intense when you have your money on the line. You can’t go wrong picking the “higher” option on Trae Young right now. I also had a great deal of success this past college football season leaning on Bryce Young. Feel strongly that Young will continue his dominance into the NFL? You already know what to do.
There’s room for the little guys too, as you’ll find. You’ll start to love players you never gave a second thought to before when you get in on the action at Underdog.
Is Underdog Fantasy legal in Alabama?
Of course! While traditional online sports betting is not allowed in the Yellowhammer State, Underdog Fantasy is legal in Alabama.
Because pick’em is available in Alabama on Underdog Fantasy, you can put real money on the line every week perusing the over/under picks for the day, similar to prop bets on other betting sites. Of course, you can also get in on the fun of the Fantasy Drafts!
Taking a few minutes to participate in some Daily Drafts is my go-to. It’s easy, fast and you can really make a profit if you’re strategic enough. I enjoy picking NBA players in Battle Royale Daily Fantasy Drafts and watching along on League Pass while my players rack up points. I’ve always been a college over pros guy myself, but drafting players with real money on the line has me locked in to any regular-season game, ones that I would never give a glance to otherwise – a regular-season game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets is like Game 7 of the NBA Finals!
Speaking of drafts and over/under picks, let’s take a look at what you can find on the Underdog platform.
Games and Contests available on Underdog Fantasy Alabama
Battle Royale Daily Fantasy Draft
As stated earlier, Battle Royale drafts are my go-to. Underdog offers fairly standard DFS offerings where users can quickly draft a fantasy lineup and compete against other users during a day of football or a night of NBA action.
This isn’t your typical fantasy draft with your buddies in a crowded basement. You will participate in a snake draft against a group of other users, almost always with 6 players, but including lobbies with up to around 12 players. It’s important to note you won’t just be competing against the group you are drafting against when you first enter the studio. You’re competing against every user in every group for that given period of time. For example, in an NBA Battle Royale lobby of 10,000 entries or so, around 1,750 players will have the true stars such Nikola Jokic, Ja Morant or Trae Young on their squad, whoever is in action that night. The real fun starts in the later rounds, where you can truly put your knowledge of the game to the test!
My first Battle Royale draft was an NBA Tuesday night slate. I entered a snake draft in the “Shootaround Tuesday” contest. It cost $5 to enter. My crew of Jonas Valanciunas, Russell Westbrook, DeAndre Ayton, Jaren Jackson Jr., Wendell Carter and Ja Morant ended up winning $10 (thanks, Ja)! And remember, that was my first time entering a draft. Doubling my money on my first try!
I entered a pair of contests for the Super Bowl, too. Some are more expensive with thinner contestant pools, while some have a low entry fee like the one I mentioned above. It made the Big Game that much more enjoyable, especially when I made a net gain instead of a loss.
While I won $15, the overall winner of the contest took home a ho-hum $6,000 on a $5 entry fee. The most I’ve ever won in a daily draft is $20, but maybe someday I’ll claim that big prize. Just make sure you’re being strategic! More on those ways to play a little later.
Tips for your first Battle Royale draft:
- Take some time and familiarize yourself with how each draft scores points. For example, in NBA draft contests, each point scored is worth 1 point. Each rebound is 1.2 points. Each assist is 1.5 points and steals and blocks are worth 3 points each. Remember my spiel on Russell Westbrook earlier? Those types of picks can sometimes be the better play compared to a pure scorer! Matchups help, too. If a team is poor defensively, I’ll make sure to go with the volume scorer to drop 50 points. Matchups are everything. Is your favorite NFL team playing against a not-so-great pass defense? Stock up on that team’s quarterback and receivers!
- The draft goes quick, with most draft clocks hovering around 20-30 seconds to make a selection. Most fantasy football draft settings give you time to strategize, but with 6 players and a 30-second clock, things can get hectic! Get a feel for who you want and finalize your strategy before the draft begins.
- Pay close attention to injuries! Because you’re only picking for a night’s action, picking a player that is injured essentially guarantees a loss. I prefer to stay away from any player that has even an inkling of a chance to miss that night’s game when selecting for the NBA. NFL contests are a little bit easier, as you know well in advance who is playing and who is likely to be out.
- Perhaps most important of all: go with a very small entry fee for your first draft, so you don’t risk much money on your first go-around. Think around $3-5 and use it as a learning experience. I made a profit my first time, but that’s not always a guarantee!
Regular Daily Fantasy Drafts
Underdog Fantasy also offers a number of more standard daily fantasy drafts where you compete against just a handful of people. This allows you to favor pool size over potential earnings vs. an entire crowd of players. Head-to-head NBA drafts are a good place to start, and during football season football offers some great opportunities as well. I recently took part in a regular draft for the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, Miles Sanders didn’t quite pull through for me, but even then I was still on the right side of the profit line and made 10 bucks! Fewer competitors means more opportunity to both show off your knowledge of the game and more chances to win big!
The only thing that gets a little repetitive with head-to-head is the fact that you’re kind of selecting the same players over and over, especially with the NBA or other professional leagues with limited rosters. With only 2 teams with 6 players each, that’s 12 elite-level players. So, essentially every contest involves teams that have a mix of mostly the same players: Luka Doncic, LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, Trae Young, Jayson Tatum, Steph Curry, etc. You can get riskier in larger pools, but drafting Walker Kessler over Nikola Jokic isn’t really going to win you any big games in head-to-head most of the time.
And because you aren’t going to pick any players over Doncic, Giannis, etc., you aren’t going to be able to show any deep level knowledge of the game. Football, more of a team game, is slightly different in this aspect, as certain players and matchups (as well as a larger group to choose from) can give you some wiggle room. Of course, there are tradeoffs, the NBA and MLB are in action just about every night, while you’d have to wait for the weekend to draft some NFL talent. You can likely take your gameplay to the next level by layering in some knowledge and data around the weakest defensive teams, which teams might get cooked regularly by a dynamic scoring guard, etc.
Need a great way to dip your toes into the Underdog Fantasy lifestyle? Daily Fantasy Drafts are a fantastic place to start.
Underdog Pick’em Contests
Want to take more of a risk? Try pick’em contests! Similar to prop bets, you can put some money on over/under options each night, not to mention scour various lines to gain some leverage. At Underdog, you have to pick at least 1 player from 2 different teams, but otherwise it is very similar to prop bets on other sports betting sites.
There are two types of pick’em contests on Underdog Fantasy. Higher/lower pick’ems (which resemble over/under player prop bets in sports betting) and Rivals. Regardless of the type, you have to combine at least 2 picks and can go up to as many as 5. The more you combine, the higher the multiplier or potential payout! On the flip side, the more you combine, the higher chance you walk away with nothing. Make your choices carefully!
Want an idea of what this could look like? Here are a couple examples of recent higher/lower bets — one for Super Bowl LVII and one for a night of SEC men’s college hoops:
Higher/Lower
Higher/lower pick ’em contests are pretty straightforward. If Underdog showed you the potential to pick higher/lower on Trae Young 10.5 points, you’d take higher every time. Here’s where it gets interesting, though: to make a pick’em contest legitimate, you have to have at least 2 higher/lower picks. And those picks can’t be from the same team, so you can’t bet on the tandem of Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown to find the end zone multiple times.
You can pick teammates like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce for specific wagers, but you would also have to pick a player from a different team to make things legitimate on Underdog Fantasy Alabama.
NFL and NBA games are scored live, as are many other sports, so you’re able to follow along with your picks on the app. For our Alabama and Auburn fans out there, college sports are not currently scored live on the app, but maybe sometime soon they will be!
Rivals
In Rivals picks, you make a pick between 2 players around a specific stat category with a “spread” applied to one of them to even out the odds a bit. In the screenshot below, you can see you are picking between Jalen Hurts +37.5 rushing yards vs. his teammate Miles Sanders. If you pick Sanders, you think he’s going to rush for at least 37.5 more yards than Hurts.
Multipliers
How much can you win on a given wager? Here are how the multipliers work on the Underdog Pick’em contests:
- Two picks: 3x
- Three picks: 6x
- Four picks: 10x
- Five picks: 20x
You are in control! The interface makes things really easy, tells you the multiplier on the bottom and informs you of how much you are putting on a contest and how much you can potentially win. From there, it’s all about being strategic and making the right picks!

Underdog Fantasy customer support
The Underdog team is incredibly helpful. A few weeks back, I had a question about one of the pick’em contests I entered when one of my selected players did not play due to a pregame injury. I messaged the Underdog support team on Twitter and they responded quickly and helpfully.
The customer support services at Underdog include email and phone lines. The group is trustworthy, helpful and quick to respond. It makes using the convenient app even easier.
Playing Underdog Fantasy Alabama
College football and basketball do not have daily drafts, instead sticking to pick’em in most jurisdictions. NFL, MLB and NBA do have daily drafts. Some sports are scored live (like NFL, NBA and PGA). Others aren’t (once again, college football and basketball).
Buy into it and everything becomes that much more intense! Depending on how many drafts, pick ’em’s and more you play each night, it’s easy to follow your picks during the game! And most importantly? Underdog Fantasy is legal in Alabama! You can play alongside your friends in other states and get in on the action for big games every week.
Don’t let your friends in a select group of states have all the fun. Put some money on the line and try to hit it big starting today!
