Darian Mensah, the top-rated player in ESPN’s transfer portal rankings, is committing to Duke, Mensah told ESPN on Wednesday morning.

Mensah is a redshirt freshman who will have 3 years of eligibility remaining. He recently entered the portal after leading Tulane to the AAC title game in his first year as the starting quarterback.

Mensah was phenomenal in his first and only season at Tulane. He threw for 2,723 yards with 22 touchdown passes and just 6 interceptions. Mensah also ran for 132 yards and a touchdown, helping the Green Wave go 9-4. Mensah threw for 209 yards and 2 touchdowns with 1 interception in Tulane’s 35-14 loss to Army in the AAC title game last Friday night.

It turned out that was Mensah’s last game in a Tulane uniform. Earlier this week, Mensah decided to enter the portal, and just a few days later it appears he has found his new home in Durham.

Earlier this week, Duke saw starting quarterback Maalik Murphy transfer out after leading the Blue Devils to a 9-3 regular season. Mensah was 1 of the country’s most sought-after players, and according to ESPN he shut down his recruitment process after visiting Duke’s campus on Tuesday. One day later, he’s reportedly heading there to resume his college career.
