College GameDay’s history with Florida-Georgia rivalry bodes well for Gators
Believe it or not, College GameDay has broadcasted from the site of the Florida-Georgia game just three times.
And all three times, Florida has emerged victorious.
That’s according to a tweet from the Gators’ official account Thursday, just two days ahead of the team’s titanic clash with the Bulldogs in Jacksonville. College GameDay will be present in the hours before kickoff, the show’s first time featuring the game since 2005.
#DidYouKnow — #UFvsUGA was featured on @CollegeGameDay in 1999, 2002 and 2005.
Scores:
1999 — Florida over Georgia, 30-14
2002 — Florida over Georgia, 20-13
2005 — Florida over Georgia, 14-10#GatorStandard pic.twitter.com/pt6iwIIa1i— Florida Gators Football (@GatorsFB) October 25, 2018
Florida scored a huge win against its hated rival in 1999 before pulling out close victories in 2002 and 2005, the three instances when College GameDay was on site. If the trend continues in 2018, the Gators would suddenly become the SEC East favorite despite an early loss to Kentucky, and Georgia will almost certainly be eliminated from College Football Playoff contention.
How sweet would that be for Florida fans? They’re surely hoping the GameDay magic continues when the No. 9 Gators (6-1, 4-1 SEC) take on the No. 7 Bulldogs (6-1, 4-1) at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
