Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators played better defense on Saturday at Mizzou, sending the game to overtime.

But, in the first overtime period, Eli Drinkwitz and the Tigers went for 2 and ended up winning 24-23.

For Mullen and the Gators, this loss drops them to 5-6 on the season. That’s a record no one expected heading into the 2021 campaign.

Now, Mullen is firmly on the hot seat, but will the Gators actually make a change? If they do, they’ll owe the coach a $12 million buyout, according to this Orlando Sentinel report from when Mullen got a contract extension back in June.

Mullen would be owed $6 million within 30 days of being fired, with the remaining $6 million to be paid out in yearly $1 million payments.

Will the Gators make a move? These next couple of days will be interesting in Gainesville.
