Football is a violent sport. There’s no way around that.
But, the sport has done a good job of legislating unnecessary violence out of the game. Still, though, things that happen at the bottom of a pileup can be pretty aggressive.
Case in point? Check out this video of a Florida defender unnecessarily pulling on a Utah running back’s facemask following a play in the Gators’ epic 29-26 victory over the No. 7 Utes on Saturday night in The Swamp:
This is so bush league from the Florida defender. The Utah running back was down, and he’s ripping his face mask well after. pic.twitter.com/ithH2SeKIX

The Gator defender wasn’t flagged on the play. Even without the extracurriculars, the Florida defense came up big time and time again on Saturday night.
Can this unit continue to be a strength for the team? We’ll find out when No. 20 Kentucky comes to Gainesville next weekend.
