Florida’s 2023 season opener vs. Utah will now be played on a Thursday night.

Utah announced the change on Tuesday afternoon. The game will now be played on Thursday, Aug. 31. It was previously scheduled for Saturday of Week 1.

According to Utah’s press release, a TV designation for this game is still to be determined.

This contest will complete the home-and-home series between Florida and the Utes. Last season, the Gators defeated Utah 29-26 in dramatic fashion in Gainesville. The 2023 season-opener is expected to be another close game.

Florida is coming off of a 6-7 campaign in Billy Napier’s 1st year at the helm. The Gators will be hoping to take a big step forward in 2023.

Utah has won back-to-back Pac-12 titles. The Utes rebounded from their loss in Gainesville last season and finished the year with a 10-4 record.

Florida is 2-0 all-time against Utah. Its other win in this series came back in 1977.

A kickoff time for Florida-Utah is still to be announced.
