When Jordan Smith originally committed to Florida on Dec. 13, 2015, it looked like a good get for Jim McElwain’s 2016 class.
Smith, however, ended up never playing in a game for the Gators. Rated a 4-star weak-side defensive end as a ’16 recruit, Smith redshirted his first year on campus, not seeing any game action. He would not see any game action his second season, either, because of his involvement as one of the nine UF players to commit credit card fraud.
After spending the 2018 season playing for Butler Community College in Kansas, Smith, a Lithonia, Ga. native, is returning to the South. He announced late Tuesday that he has committed to play at UAB. The Blazers beat out seven other teams, including UNLV where he was being recruited by former Florida assistant Tim Skipper.
Glad to be where I am right now God told me I had to spend some time in the dark to see the light again and well this is my time ✅📝🐍@UAB_FB pic.twitter.com/CU6WIej0es
