Pearsall was a first-round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers earlier this year. He spent 3 seasons at Arizona State prior to transferring to Florida. He appeared in 25 games for the Gators across 2 seasons.
As a fifth-year senior in 2023, he led the team in receptions and yards.
Pearsall had been nursing a shoulder injury in training camp that forced him to miss the 49ers’ entire preseason slate, putting his role with the offense to open the season in flux. Head coach Kyle Shanahan had described the issue as a shoulder subluxation, which initially happened when Pearsall was a junior in college.
It’s not immediately clear where Pearsall sustained the gunshot wound. His status for the 49ers’ season-opening game against the New York Jets on Sept. 9 should be considered questionable going forward.
