One former Gator left no doubt regarding his ideal choice for the next head coach at Florida.

The rumor mill has hit in full force following Florida’s decision to move on from Jim McElwain Sunday. The move was made following a 42-7 blowout loss to Georgia.

Former Florida DL Alex Brown made an appearance on the Paul Finebaum Show Monday, and Brown made it clear that the Gators should focus in on one coach for the open head coaching position at Florida.

Brown sees Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen as the one person Florida should do everything it can to bring in. Mullen has experience with the Gators after serving as the offensive coordinator from 2005-2008.

Brown does know a thing or two about playing for a great coach at Florida. He played under Gators legend Steve Spurrier at Florida from 1998-2001 while helping Florida capture the 2000 SEC Championship.

Paul Finebaum shared Brown’s comments on Twitter:

Brown still holds Florida’s all-time (33.0) and single-season (13.0) sack records. He went on to play nine NFL seasons and finished his career with 45.5 sacks.
