Jac Caglianone continues to break new ground in a historic season for Florida.

On Thursday night, the Gators’ 2-way star launched a home run to the opposite field against Vanderbilt lefty Miller Green. For Caglianone, it marked his 8th consecutive game with a home run.

That’s one off of the NCAA record, which was set by Nevada’s Tyler Bosetti back in 2021. The only other D1 players to homer in 8 straight games are Georgia Tech’s Andy Bruce (1991) and Duke’s Ryan Jackson (1994).

Here’s video of Caglianone’s blast against the Commodores:

This was Caglianone’s 22nd home run of the season and 62nd of his career. The Florida program record for home runs in a career is owned by Matt LaPorta, who hit 74 homers during his time in Gainesville. Caglianone’s recent hot streak includes a 516-foot mammoth home run from earlier this week.

It’s been a remarkable individual season for Caglianone, even if Florida’s campaign hasn’t gone to plan. He entered Thursday night’s game hitting .400 with a 1.342 OPS on the season.

He’s also been Florida’s best pitcher this season as he sports a 3.89 ERA with 49 strikeouts across 39.1 innings of work.

Unfortunately for the Gators, it’s been a tougher-than-expected season. They entered Thursday night’s game with a 19-17 record and a 7-8 mark in SEC play. A spot in the NCAA Tournament remains very uncertain as of mid-April. Florida was listed as one of the final four teams in the field in D1Baseball’s latest NCAA Tournament projection.

Florida entered the 2024 season with College World Series aspirations. However, as of publication, Florida is +2600 to win the College World Series in 2024 at FanDuel. Texas A&M and Arkansas are currently co-favorites at +600.
