Few players have had a worse pre-draft experience this offseason than Florida’s Jachai Polite. How much will that cost the Gator pass rusher? That depends on who you ask.

After declaring early for the 2019 NFL Draft, Polite began to show up on most mock drafts as an early first-round selection. However, after a terrible physical performance at the 2019 NFL Combine, which was only compounded by reports that Polite interviewed poorly at the event, many have begun to drop Polite’s stock.

The junior had an opportunity to redeem himself during Florida’s Pro Day workout but he went out and posted worse numbers at the event then he did at the combine. After running a 5.0 40-yard dash, some are questioning how far Polite could now be dropping.

Whatever you do, don’t try to sell that to Cris Collinsworth. The NFL analyst for NBC Sports recently studied Polite’s tape and noted teams would be wise to not put too much stock into the edge rusher’s pre-draft evaluations.

“That will be a mistake for a lot of teams,” Collinsworth said in regards to a potential drop for Polite.

“This is a guy that can rush the passer from a lot of different positions. If he somehow slips to the second round, he is going to be a big-time steal,” he added during his assessment.
