The Florida Gators lost QB Luke Del Rio for the season following an injury sustained against Vanderbilt.
Del Rio was the hero in the Gators comeback win over Kentucky and was playing well in his first start of the season for Florida. He completed 7 of 11 passes for 64 yards without a touchdown against the Commodores before leaving due to injury.
Feleipe Franks finished the game for Florida and will return to the starting role this weekend. Nevertheless, Del Rio provided a spark when called upon in the Kentucky game and looked like a solid contributor for the Gators.
Del Rio underwent surgery, and he provided an encouraging update on Twitter:
Surgery went great. Can’t thank everyone enough for their well wishes and prayers. It’s great to be a Florida Gator in times like these ?
