Michigan’s leading tackler announces he won’t play in Peach Bowl against Florida due to injury

Michigan ranks as the No. 1 defense in the country in yards allowed per game at 262.5. It’s one of the reasons Florida will enter the Dec. 29 Peach Bowl roughly a 7-point underdog. But the Wolverines defense will have some key absences.
When the bowl game was set earlier this month, DL Rashan Gary announced he would not take part in the game. Now another key Michigan defender, LB Devin Bush, has announced he won’t be playing against the Gators.
While Gary is not playing to avoid potential injury or aggravating his nagging injuries, Bush says the choice has been made for him. He tweeted a note Wednesday saying that he has not been cleared to practice or play in the Peach Bowl. He went on to announce his plans to enter the 2019 NFL Draft.

Michigan will clearly miss having one of its most elite defenders in the game. The potential first-round pick has recorded a team-leading 79 total tackles. Bush is second on the team in tackles for loss (9.0) and sacks (5.0). He has also logged six pass breakups and two quarterback hurries this season.
