Ron Zook reportedly expected to step down at Maryland, will likely be replaced by Florida staffer

Ron Zook has been on Maryland’s staff under Mike Locksley as an analyst since 2019. In 2021, he served as the team’s special teams coordinator and associate head coach.
But, on Thursday, it was reported that Zook would be stepping down from that post.
Per ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, Zook — who is a former Florida and Illinois coach — will likely be replaced by James Thomas Jr.:

Thomas spent last year working under Zook before leaving for Florida’s staff this offseason. But, with a potential position opening up at Maryland, Thomas is expected to head back to the Terrapins.
Zook went 57-65 during his head coaching career at Florida and Illinois.
